MISSION STATEMENT

The Buddy Foundation is on a mission to provide immediate safety and care to stray, abused and abandoned animals. Once we are assured that they are medically sound, we place them in a secure, temporary, no-kill environment. This immediate placement continues to provide all the love and comfort necessary for them. Subsequently, we look for their "forever" homes--ones committed to their well being and happiness, in all respects, for the continuation of their lives. Then Buddy will truly be lighting the way home.

OUR HISTORY

Buddy took its first breath in February of 1995, and was named after a much beloved collie dog belonging to an original founder. At that time a group of concerned animal lovers united to establish a no-kill, safe haven for homeless animals. With the rapid population growth in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, the appalling need for animal care became apparent. The founders incorporated, gained their charitable status, and established a dedicated board.Volunteers were enlisted to begin a variety of activities and donation-oriented programs. Foster parents were solicited to house and care for our charges. Thus, The Buddy Foundation was able to not only crawl, but run through its first decade.

OUR GOALS

Every day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born. For every person born, 15 dogs and 45 cats are also born. Sadly, 4 to 6 million animals are euthanized each year. This means 575 animals are killed every hour. Buddy seeks to make its own personal dent in that heinous 575 number. To that extent, we shall continue our mission of saving those that can not fend for themselves. Our new shelter is located at 65 W. Seegers Rd., Arlington Heights, IL and is an oasis for these now safe and special creatures. Each animal is given the much needed one on one attention it deserves. The shelter allows Buddy the ability to evaluate each animal's needs and find a perfect home. However small and however painstaking, we will do our part to ensure that 575 will not be forgotten.

THE FUTURE

In our shelter, Buddy continues to whittle away until 575 becomes zero. Buddy also wants to change the perception of an animal shelter, and more specifically, our shelter. No longer to be thought of as bricks and steel, but rather a sanctuary where animals live happily and healthily before their adoption. If just the right home cannot be found, our animals will stay with us until God's call. Our sanctuary should be thought of as a place for peace. The public will be welcome to share our experiences, and visit a place where love and care abide. "God gives us the animals to share our lives and become part thereof, and in return He expects us to neither abuse nor destroy, but rather protect and hold safe." If we can live by and spread this message, then the spirit of Buddy will live forever.

But we need your help!

Any assistance that you can provide will be greatly appreciated. We need ideas, volunteers, and foster homes (yes, we still need and use them). Additionally, your contributions and memberships are greatly needed to enable The Buddy Foundation to Light the Way Home.

Anyone who would like to reach The Buddy Foundation can call our hotline at (847) 290-5806 or can write us at 65 W. Seegers Rd, Arlington Heights, Ill 60006.

Please remember The Buddy Foundation is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization with all funds directly assisting our animals.
